Lot 84 2020 COLT OUT OF MISS HAZEL
After waxing lyrical about Lots 84, 83 and 67 yesterday astute readers had an opportunity to back a long priced winner at Menangle last night.
Duggee Sloy added to the plaudits of his dam Miss Hazel last night when he cruised home in the ninth race on the programme for trainer Michael Doltoff and driver Jack Callaghan at odds of $26.00.
It was Duggee Sloy’s third win and second this season as a 3yo and took his earnings past the $30,000 mark.
Miss Hazel won a NSW Oaks and is the dam of Lot 84, grand-dam of Lot 67 and Lot 83 is out of her half-sister Miss Brazillian.
She is the dam of six winners herself and you can find her yearling colt at the sale next Sunday in Barn J71 under the care of Craig Judd and the team from Benstud.
That is the good news – the bad news is that I didn’t back it either.
Lot 29 2020 FILLY OUT OF WHISPERING LASS
The opening race at Menangle last night was taken out in brilliant fashion by the 5yo Somebeachsomewhere gelding Smooth Baht which came from a seemingly impossible position turning for home to win running away for trainer Steve Turnbull and driver Amanda Turnbull.
The win was his 10th and in the process he lowered his career record to 1:50.6 and took his stakemoney to $119,894.
Smooth Baht’s dam Shoutaloud p,1:58.9 $20,503 is a half-sister to Whispering Lass p,1:59.3 $129,323 which is the dam of Lot 29 at Nutrien’s Sydney Yearling Sale next Sunday.
Lot 29 is a filly by Downbytheseaside and is being offered by Brooklyn Lodge and she is a half-sister to Fiscal Fantasy p,1:57.6 and last season’s 2yo winner Our George Boston p,2,1:57.8.
