About Nutrien Equine
We not only serve your business and passion, we also live it ourselves
Established in 2008, the Classic has evolved to become Australia’s premier Campdrafting competition and world class performance horse sale.
After the setback of the Australian EI outbreak and horse movement restrictions, the Landmark Classic evolved with a small band of supporters, keen to forge ahead with both a passion and business focus on establishing a stable market for performance horses in Australia.
The inaugural Landmark Classic was certainly modest in its beginning with 129 horses catalogued in the first sale held at the Tamworth Showground over two cold days in May 2008. The sale turned out to be an immediate success with a top price of $54,000 achieved with 123 horses offered for sale with a clearance of 92%, grossing $1.2 Million at an average of $10,710.
After that first sale, the Classic concept continued to grow as it relocated to the then brand new AELEC facility in Tamworth, where it has developed into a mainstay event in the Australian Campdrafting calendar.
The Classic progressed into Australia’s premier Campdrafting competition and a world class performance horse sale, boasting one of Australia’s richest Campdraft winner’s purses with $40,000 cash plus prizes awarded to the champion each year. The annual event now runs over 12 days and comprises of 6 feature events, 2 cash incentives and over $200,000 total cash and prizes.
In 2020, with the re branding of Landmark to Nutrien Ag Solutions, the event becomes known as the Nutrien Classic.
In early 2020, Nutrien Equine announced that they would conduct an Australian Standardbred sale in April 2021, as they planned to extend their existing equine marketing and sales footprint into the Harness Racing sector.
The successful sale was held at Inglis Oakland’s Junction Complex from 8 – 11 April 2021, cataloguing nearly 300 horses and setting some outstanding Australian records in their first inauguarl sale.
2022 will see Nutrien Equine Standardbred have two yearling sales in Sydney and Melbourne with the addition to mixed online sales throughout the year.
