Melbourne Sale Pedigree Updates – Menangle, Melton and Horsham all giving big updates for Melb Sale

Another big night for Nutrien Melbourne

A huge night of racing at Menangle for the pacers and Melton for the trotters saw a number of significant updates for a number of the lots in the Nutrien Sale in Melbourne on April 3rd.

Lot 128A

The meeting at Menangle was bookended by Lot 128A with Cash N Flow taking out the opening event and Major Perry the final event which was the third heat of the NSW Derby.

Lot 128A, consigned by Brett Chapman, is an American Ideal filly from the winning Art Major mare Arty Chick which is already the dam of NSW Christmas Gift winner Ilikemebettor p,1:50.0 $109,938.

The cross of American Ideal over an Art Major mare has already produced some 26 winners including the star Soho Tribeca p,3,1:53.8 $1,103,854.

Arty Chick is a half-sister to Cash N Flow p,1:49.0 which brought up his 37th win and lifted his career earnings to $622,667 in downing Art Tutor and Petes Said So covering the mile in 1:50.1.

Cash N Flow is a half-brother to former Australian 2yo Pacer of the Year Katy Perry p,1:51.1 $550,093 which is the dam of Saturday night’s Derby heat winner Major Perry which brought up his fourth win in the final event at Menangle for trainer Paul Fitzpatrick and driver Gavin Fitzpatrick.

The win lifted Major Perry’s earnings to $95,641 and he will be a live chance in next week’s NSW Derby final with a little barrier draw luck.

Lot 182A

On Saturday afternoon at Ashburton in New Zealand Franco Josiah lowered his record to tr,1:58.4 when he downed Resolve and Steel Dust winning by a length and a half.

It was Franco Josiah’s sixth win and took his earnings to $53,122.

Franco Josiah is by the Swedish trotter Revenue from the New Zealand 2yo Sires Stakes Trotters Championship winner Jacanti Franco who is a half-sister to Jags Invasion tr,1:56.5 $121,972.

Jacanti Franco is also a half-sister to New Zealand 2yo Trotting Filly of the Year Jumanji Franco tr,1:59.3 $73,957 which is the dam of Lot 182A in Nutrien’s Melbourne Sale.

Lot 182A is being offered on behalf of Craig Nott and is a filly by the first-crop American stallion Volstead tr,1:51.5 $919,673 which won at Group One level in Sweden.

Jumanji Franco has already produced three winners including Bee Bee Beroc which won a heat of last season’s 2yo Vicbred Super Series.

Lot 209

Also lowering their mark in impressive fashion was the Quaker Jet mare Electrojet which took out the Group Three Lyn McPherson Memorial Breed For Speed Silver Series at Melton on Saturday night rating tr,1:58.7 for the 1720 metres.

Trainer by Fred Spiteri and driven by Jack Laugher, Electrojet has now won seven races and has earnings of $53,290 and she is a daughter of Cranbourne Trotters Cup winner Sassy Pinevale tr,1:57.6 $176,195.

Sassy Pinevale hasn’t been an easy mare to get in foal and her only other foal of racing age is the Ready Cash mare Orne which is the dam of Lot 209 in the Nutrien Melbourne Sale.

Orne was unraced and Lot 209 is her first foal and is being offered on behalf of Yabby Dam Farms.

Like Lot 182A, Lot 209 is a filly and from the first crop of the imported American bred and Swedish performed Volstead tr,1:51.5 $919,673.

Lot 189

Trainer/driver Sam Barker won last night’s Lyn McPherson Memorial Breed For Speed Bronze Series at Melton with the 4yo Majestic Son mare Paris Faith which downed Sheza Chocolatier and Black And Gold rating tr,2:00.7 for the 1720 metres.

Aldebaran Lodge will offer Lot 189 at Nutrien’s Melbourne Sale which is a colt by Trixton from the Dream Vacation mare Aldebaran Maori tr,2:01.7 $74,581.

Aldebaran Maori is the dam of three winners including Fear Not tr,2:01.6 $196,555 and Kyvalley Kyrie tr,1:59.0 $100,251. Kyvalley Kyrie is the dam of 2021 2yo winner Kyvalley Pierro tr,2,2:01.1 which finished second in the Group One Vicbred Platinum Classic.

Aldebaran Maori’s third winner is the Aldebaran Yankee mare Aldebaran Etta which is the dam of the aforementioned Paris Faith.

Lot 122

Lot 122 is a colt and is part of the outstanding draft of trotters being offered by Yabby Dam Farms at Nutrien’s Melbourne Yearling Sale.

By Father Patrick, Lot 122 is the first foal from the unraced Muscle Hill mare American Jewel which is a half-sister to Vacanza tr,1:59.8.

Vacanza is the dam of Vacation Hill tr,1:56.5 which won the New Zealand Trotting Oaks as a 3yo and on February 10th she took her 1:56.5 record winning a heat of the Lyn McPherson Memorial Breed For Speed Gold Series at Bendigo.

Vacation Hill which, like the dam of Lot 122, is by Muscle Hill took her earnings to $122,458 with a gallant second to Aldebaran Crescent in the Group One final at Melton on Saturday night.

Vacation Hill started favourite at $1.95 but was forced to race on the outside of the leader for the bulk of the race and was run down in the last 100 metres as the hard run took its toll.

What a star

Lot 199

Kerryn Manning is an absolute superstar who is readily recognised as the world’s leading reinswoman with a phenomenal 4093 wins as a driver.

Kerryn is also a star trainer and at Sundays Horsham Cup meeting she trained her 1012th winner when concession driver Ryan Sanderson landed The Sportz Star an easy winner over its stablemate Hes A Cool Mach which was driven for Kerryn by another concession driver in Lochie Cook.

 

Lot 199 in the Nutrien’s Melbourne Yearling Sale on April 3rd is a full-sister to The Sportz Star being by Sportswriter from the Armbro Operative mare Molly Pitcher.

This filly is being offered by Dean and Banche Poole from Rhiannon Park and this particular cross has already produced four $100,000 earners including Egodan p,1:51.3 $378,726 which is scheduled to start at Menangle on Tuesday.

The Sportz Star has now won seven races and yesterday’s win lifted his earnings to $42,585.

His dam Molly Picher won eight races herself and is a full-sister to Group One 4yo Vicbred Super Series  winner Adams Rocket p,1:53.8 $287,784 and Spitfire Shadow which is the dam of four $100,000 earners including Somebeachshadow p,1:51.4 $191,328.
