Lot 41 in the inaugural Nutrien Yearling Sale held in 2021 was a colt by Muscle Mass from the champion race-mare and 2020 Australian Broodmare of the Year La Coocaracha tr,1:58.5 $428,911.
Now named The Locomotive this colt was consigned by Yabby Dam Farms and fittingly brought $60,000 when knocked down to Wayne Potter.
Wayne trained his second Group One winner on Saturday night at Melton when The Locomotive steam-rolled his rivals in the Vicbred Platinum Home Grown Classic Final for 2yo trotters to break his maiden status in style downing Hide And Seek and a gallant Basilica which raced outside the leader throughout.
The Locomotive rated an impressive 1:59.9 for the 1720 metres.
Third placed Basilica was also bred by Yabby Dam Farms and he brought $170,000 when he went through the ring as Lot 177 at the Nutrien Sale last year.
The 2021 Nutrien Yearling Sale has already produced 18 individual 2yo winners in 2022.
