Captaintreacherous, a son of Somebeachsomewhere, has made a blistering start in his attempt to become Australia’s Leading Sire of 2yos for the third straight year.

On Saturday night at Bathurst Captaintreacherous USA sired the winners of both the Group One Bathurst Gold Tiara and Group One Bathurst Gold Crown to surge to the top of the Australian 2yo Sires List for 2023.

The unbeaten filly Lux Aeterna has won each of her four starts in 2023 and Saturday’s win lifted her earnings to $112,432.

The Captaintreacherous colt Chart Topper brought up his second win in three starts and has now banked $81,048.

Second on the national list is Sweet Lou whose 29 2yo starters in 2023 include a remarkable 11 individual winners of $226,098.

That is only part of the good news as this weekend’s Nutrien Yearling Sale in Melbourne features five yearlings by Captaintreacherous.

Lots 382, 529, 539, 549 and 634 are worth marking in your catalogue for inspection.

On the subject of the Bathurst Gold Crown, Lot 438 (*pictured) is of particular interest in that this colt, on account of Lauriston Bloodstock, is by a quality son of Somebeachsomewhere in Poster Boy from a three-time Group One winner in Speak No Evil 1:50.9 $354,300.

Speak No Evil is a half-sister to Queen Of Pop 1:57.3 $204,527 which is the dam of Saturday night’s Bathurst Gold Crown winner Chart Topper.
