Nutrien 2021 Yearling Sale produces its first winner  

At the 2021 Nutrien Yearling Sale Sydney trainer Brian Portelli paid $27,000 for Lot 73 which was a colt by Sweet Lou from the Astreos mare Miss Astronomical on account of Emily, Matt and Jess Howe from Mataranka Standardbreds from Wagga Wagga NSW.

Now gelded and named Shantilly he laced his opposition in winning the 2yo race on Tuesday afternoon at Menangle in a time of 1:56.8 for the mile with the final quarter being covered in a slick 26.6 seconds.

Shantilly will forever be noted as the first product of a Nutrien Standardbred Yearling Sale to record a win.

Shantilly was driven by Brian Portelli and beat its stablemate Agiftfromtheangels.

Lot 82 in the 2022 Nutrien Sydney Sale later this month is a filly by Roll With Joe from Miss Astronomical and is being offered by Murray River Cattle Company & Associates.

With the win of Shantilly, Miss Astronomical has now produced six winners including Tenacious One p,1:51.6 $249,061.

Miss Astronomical is a half-sister to Ballarat Cup winner Safari p,1:55.7 $535,445, Astronaut p,1:53.4 $264,177, Major Frank p,1:52.8 $119,028 and 2yo Vicbred Super Series winner Our Maid Marianne p,1:57.9 $110,338.
