Marquee event the Nutrien classic commenced today under the watchful eye of Mr Glen (Sticks) Peterson. Competitors were treated to a lovely line of Hereford cattle donated by Matt & Kylie Weber, “Meadowbrook” Geurie.
With scores coming in quickly spectators didn’t have to wait long for the first of big scores to roll in. Ben Hall aboard the Carolyn McNabb owned Marmello started their campaign well with a neat 89 points. The Kylie Graham gelding didn’t disappoint making easy work of the task at hand.
Also collecting 89 points were Hayley Condon aboard her entry Nibbereena Monaro, Taroom competitor Jay Pearce on the BKM Pastoral Clark Family Excellerator and David Thorn aboard the Thorn and OJ Syndicate owned One Stylish Jewel.
Holding the top spot at the moment though is local competitor Rob Leach with 90 points aboard Lowly Pastoral owned Peelvale Truce. The 2017 drop chestnut gelding bred by Janine Miles is by Conductor out of Open campdraft mare Oaks River Queen.
With the first 100 of the runs run and done we look to tomorrows program for the second third of the Classic entries, no doubt there will be plenty of scores added to the top runs as the event unfolds.
