Sunday’s Cobram Cup Day included feature events for both pacers and trotters and both races were taken out by horses that have relatives in the 2023 Nutrien Yearling Sales.
The $30,000 Cobram Cup for pacers was taken out by the A Rocknroll Dance 5yo gelding Curly James which led throughout to beat Serg Blanco and Fire Fox.
Trained and driven by David Moran, Curly James is a half-brother to Lot 206 in the Sydney Yearling Sale which is being offered by Regal Farm and is being prepared for the sale by Benstud NSW.
According to reports Lot 206 is outstanding and he is a colt by Sweet Lou from the Somebeachsomewhere mare Someone To Love whose two foals of racing age are both winners.
Someone To Love is a three-quarter sister to Australian 2yo and 3yo Filly Pacer of the Year Ladies In Red p,2,1:51.9 $896,520 and Our Little General p,1:49.8 $765,566.

The 2023 Group Three Cobram Trotters Cup provided an emotional win for the Used To Me 5yo gelding Don’t Care for trainer Kate Hargreaves and driver Shannon O’Sullivan.
Don’t Care led throughout to beat Sheza Pleasure and Robbie Royale.
The former Australian 2yo Trotting Colt of the Year has now won 12 races and $169,550 in stakes and Yabby Dam Farms will be offering a close relative to Don’t Care as Lot 547 in Nutrien’s Melbourne Yearling Sale.
