Looking for history to repeat

The inaugural Nutrien Yearling Sale in 2021 saw five lots top the $100,000 mark.

Incredibly all five have full or half relatives in the 2022 Nutrien Yearling Sale.

In 2021 a colt by Bettors Delight from the Art Major mare Our Golden Goddess topped the sale when Jean Feiss paid $180,000 for the first foal from a mare which won 17 races and banked more than $442,000.

The colt has been named Beckham and is now located in New Zealand.

Benstud Standardbreds put Our Golden Goddess back to Bettors Delight and Lot 211 in the 2022 Sale is a full-brother to Beckham.

Second top price in 2021 was a colt by Father Patrick from the Australian 3yo Filly Trotter of the Year Une Belle Allure which set a new Australian Record for a trotting bred yearling when he brought $170,000 and was knocked down to Alabar Farm.

He was sold by Yabby Dam Farms who will offer a Muscle Mass half-brother as Lot 250 in 2022.

Muscle Mass currently sits in fifth position on the 2021 USTA list of Leading Sires of Trotters and is also in the Top Ten on both the 2yo Trotters Sires List and 3yo Trotters Sires List.

Alison Miles was over the moon earlier this year when she sold the top-priced filly at the Nutrien Sale for $115,000.

That filly was by boom sire Captaintreacherous and in 2022 Alison will offer a half-sister by Sweet Lou as Lot 114 and with You Ask Ally being a half-sister to Australian Broodmare of the Year Pixel Perfect her 2022 offering is also sure to be keenly sought after.

Alabar Bloodstock sold an Art Major colt from the Miracle Mile and Chariots of Fire placegetter Arms Of An Angel for $110,000 earlier this year.

In 2022 they will be offering a full-brother as Lot 36 and with a dam which has a 1:49.5 winning record this colt should also attract plenty of attention.

Lauriston Bloodstock sold a Captaintreacherous colt out of the Group One winning mare Musical Delight for $100,000 at the 2021 Nutrien Yearling Sale.

In 2022 they will offer an Art Major half-brother as Lot 89 and since the 2021 Sale Musical Delight’s reputation has grown as her current 3yo Beach Music has blossomed in recent weeks winning six of seven starts and finishing third in the 2021 Victoria Oaks at the other start.
