American Ideal gelding Bletchley Park took out the $50,000 Group Two RWWA Cup at Gloucester Park last Friday night for trainer Stephen Reed and owners Albert and Julie Walmsley.
It was Bletchley Park’s 19th win in 55 starts and lifted his earnings to $382,718 – a tidy return on the $95,000 the Walmsley’s paid for him as a yearling in 2017 at the Melbourne APG Sale.
He was bred by Harshell Investments and the Estate of Kaye Kilgour who will offer a half-brother to Bletchley Park as Lot 120 in the 2022 Nutrien Yearling Sale.
This colt is by Sweet Lou, who currently sits in fourth place on the USTA’s 2021 Leading 2yo Sires List, and is out of three-time Australian Broodmare of the Year Alldatglittersisgold.
That Alldatglittersisgold should be so lauded is hardly surprising as, in addition to Bletchley Park, she is also the dam of Australian 2yo Colt of the Year and Victoria Cup winner Bling It On p,1:50.2 $1,882,956, Australian Pacing Mare of the Year and Miracle Mile winner Baby Bling p,1:50.5 $854,490 and Blingittothemax p,1:55.3 $117,944.
Sweet Lou is the sire of 112 Southern Hemisphere winners including the smart 4yo Spirit Of St Louis which finished fourth in the Group One Len Smith Mile at its last start and the gelding will line up from barrier three in the third heat of the 2021 Inter Dominion at Menangle this Saturday.
