Thursday night’s meetings at Penrith and Bendigo produced wins for three horses with half or full brothers in the 2022 Nutrien Sydney Yearling Sale.

Lot 35A

The Penrith meeting provided two of the winners with the first of them Rock Of Delight taking out the fourth race on the programme for trainer Michael Doltoff and driver Brian Portelli.

It was Rock Of Delight’s eighth win and took his earnings to more than $44,000.

His Somebeachsomewhere half-brother will be offered by breeder Tim Neven as Lot 235A in the Nutrien Sydney Sale.

Rock Of Delight’s full-brother Mea Culpa also earned an update last night with a third placing at Bendigo a little under three hours later which took his earnings to $45,890.

Earlier on Thursday in the USA, Intheskyrocket put some more cash into the skyrocket of his now American owners when he won his 14th race and lifted his earnings past the $108,000 mark – he appears under the third dam of Lot 35A.

Lot 35A is out of the Bettors Delight mare Annas Innocent p,3,1:57.2 who is a daughter of former Australian 3yo Filly Pacer of the Year Innocent Eyes p,1:57.6 $421,875.

Somebeachsomewhere is the sire of 475 winners in the Southern Hemisphere and three of the top seven earners are out of Bettors Delight mares including the millionaire Our Waikiki Beach p,1:50.4 $1,052,896.

Lot 63

The second Penrith winner last night was the Bettors Delight gelding Gentle Giant which took out race seven on the programme for trainer/driver Tiarn Sutton.

It was Tiarn’s 56th winner as a trainer and just her fifth win as a driver.

It was Gentle Giant’s tenth win and his earnings are now $90,470.

Lot 63 in Nutrien’s Sydney Yearling Sale is a full-brother to Gentle Giant being by Bettors Delight from the Christian Cullen mare Gentle Anvil and being consigned by Llowalong Farms as agent.

This colt is bred on the “Golden Cross” of Australasian standardbred breeding and Bettors Delight over a Christian Cullen mare has produced a remarkable 325 winners including seven millionaires and 96 individual $100,000 earners.

Those 325 winners are headed by the remarkable Lazarus p,1:48.6 $4,423,391 and the West Aussie champion Chicago Bull which should add to his $2,331,683 stakes when he starts at Gloucester Park on New Year’s Eve.

Lot 57

Last night at Bendigo the Vicbred Super Series Silver consolation events were held as a precursor to the Group One Finals of the series at Melton on New Year’s Eve.

Somebeachsomewhere 2yo filly Beach Memories mis-behaved in her Vicbred Super Series semi-final on December 22nd and missed qualifying for the final.

She was on her best behaviour last night and brought up her sixth win for the season and took her earnings to $48,804 for trainer Kasey Kent and driver Rodney Lakey when she beat Sassiness and Heavenly Sign.

A Bettors Delight half-brother to Beach Memories is being offered by Denis and Jo Howe as Lot 57 in the Nutrien Standardbred Sydney sale on February 22nd.

This colt is also a half-brother to Sibelia Stakes winner Hows The Memory p,1:50.1 $154,424 and a full brother to Delightful Angel p,1:53.5 and Something Bettor p,3,1:53.5.

Distant Memory, the dam of Lot 57 won the a pair of Group One races as a 2yo in the Bathurst Gold Tiara and Vicbred Super Series on her way to earnings of $173,155 and each of her four foals of racing age is a winner with her fifth foal due to race as a 2yo in 2022.

Christmas Gift winner sizzles at Menangle

At 8:08pm Saturday night’s Group Three Christmas Gift Final at Menangle was taken out by the 4yo Bettors Delight stallion Ilikemebettor which beat Louis Litt and Lochiel.

The $16,200 first prizemoney lifted Ilikemebettor’s earnings to $98,508 from 6 wins and he joined the elite list of winners who have covered the Menangle mile in 1:50.0 when he ran exactly that time on Saturday.

Lot 128A in the 2022 Melbourne Nutrien Yearling Sale is an American Ideal half-sister to Ilikemebettor from the winning Art Major mare Arty Chick p,2:03.7 and is being offered on behalf of Brett Chapman.

Precisely 20 minutes after Ilikemebettor’s 1:50 victory his three-quarter brother Pitch Perfect lined up at Newcastle as a $1.75 favourite for trainer Roy Roots Jnr and concession driver Jack Brown.

Pitch Perfect duly saluted with his 14th career victory and took his earnings to $134,114 and he too has a 1:50.0 record with a time of 1:49.8 to his credit.

Pitch Perfect is a Bettors Delight half-brother to Ilikemebettor’s dam Arty Chick and this pedigree now boasts two 1:50.0 winners in the first two dams.

The win of Honolua Bay over Jay Ok and Morrison’s Dream in the third heat of the Vicbred Super Series at Ballarat last Thursday brought back memories of our Prime Minister’s infamous Hawaiian holiday in 2019.

Honolua Bay can be found in Hawaii and his American Ideal half-brother can be found in the 2022 Sydney Nutrien Yearling Sale as Lot 92 which is being offered on behalf of Lauriston Bloodstock.

Honolua Bay has won 12 races and $151,150 and is a half-brother to Rocknroll Icon p,1:53.0 $192,405 and a three-quarter brother to Mach Up p,1:53.0 $100,304.

All three are out of the Artsplace mare National Gallery which won 11 races and $90,600 and took a record of 1:54.4.

Earlier in 2021 Honolua Bay won a pair of Group Two races in the Victorian 4&5yo Championship and Australasian Breeders Crown Championship and will have an opportunity to add a Group One Victory to his resume when he contests the $130,000 Final of the Vicbred Super Series at Melton on New Years Eve.

The Art Major gelding Be Major Threat won his 17th race in Hobart on Sunday night for trainer Tammy Langley and driver Dylan Ford.

Lot 8 in the 2022 Sydney Nutrien Yearling Sale is a Sweet Lou half-brother to Be Major Threat on account of Galthorn Farm.

Be Major Threat  took his earnings to $161,668 with his win on Sunday night which is a fair tally but still short of his illustrious younger full-brother Malcolms Rhythm who has banked $344,300 for his connections.

Malcolms Rhythm was a finalist in the 2021 Inter Dominion at Menangle.

Their dam Shes Got It All p,1:58.6 is a three-quarter sister to Raptorial p,1:50.2 $316,088 and a half-sister to the dam of Mighty Ronaldo p,3,1:54.0 $274,980.

Mighty Ronaldo won the Group One West Australian Golden Slipper Stakes as a 2yo and earlier this year won the 2021 WA Derby.

This is also the maternal family of the champion West Australian pacer Chicago Bull p,1:51.6 $2,331,683 who resumed from a spell on Friday night with an impressive fifth at Gloucester Park.

YEARLING SALES INFORMATION

Winning streak continues

The winning streak by close relatives to yearlings in the 2022 Nutrien Yearling Sale in heats of the Vicbred Super Series continued at Ballarat on Thursday night.

Mach Three 4yo stallion Pacifico Dream started a $1.50 favourite when he took out the second heat of the 4yo Entires and Geldings from Silent Major and Major Meister.

Pacifico Dream won the 3yo Vicbred Super Series Final and Thursday’s win was his 14th and lifted his earnings to $315,750.

Lot 236 in the 2022 Melbourne Nutrien Yearling Sale is the first foal from a full-sister to Pacifico Dream in Sharing The Love p,3,1:58.4 and is being offered by Woodlands Stud NZ.

Lot 236 is by Woodlands Stud’s flagship stallion Bettors Delight and this filly is bred on the same cross as the outstanding female pacers Classie Brigade p,1:54.6 $579,369 (three-time Kaikoura Cup winner) and multiple Group One winner Dr Susan p,3,1:52.1 $267,444 which won the 2020 Victoria Oaks on her way to being named Australian 3yo Filly Pacer of the Year.

The Group One finals for the Vicbred Super Series are scheduled to be held at Melton on the last night of the season – New Years Eve and the Nutrien website will have all the updated lots on-line on Tuesday 4th January.

3yo Vicbred Super Series heats at Kilmore

On Tuesday we were talking about the 2yo Vicbred Super Series heat winners at Shepparton and yesterday the action moved to Kilmore and the 3yo Vicbred Super Series heats.

Lot 12 in the 2022 Sydney Nutrien Yearling Sale continued a red-hot week when the 2020 Australian 2yo Pacing Filly of the Year Ladies In Red took out the fourth fillies heat of the 3yo Vicbred Super Series from Platinum Sparkle and Runaway Celebrity.

Part of the all-conquering Emma Stewart team, Ladies In Red brought up her 16th win and took her earnings to $494,500.

She is a full sister to Our Little General p,1:49.8 $765,566 and a three-quarter sister to Someone To Love – the dam of Lot 12.

Lot 12 is by American Ideal and the highlights in the pedigree box at the top of the page show some interesting crosses.

Not locked down

The third of the colts heats of the 3yo Vicbred Super Series at Kilmore yesterday was taken out by the topically named Somebeachsomewhere colt Bondi Lockdown beating Ultimate Vinnie and La Captain.

Trained and driven by Aaron Dunn, Bondi Lockdown has now won ten races and has earnings of $155,020.

His unraced dam Without Guile is a half-sister to the Bettors Delight winning mare Anna’s Innocent – the dam of Lot 35A which has been consigned by Tim Neven in the Sydney Nutrien Yearling Sale.

Like Bondi Lockdown, Lot 35A is a son of Somebeachsomewhere and this particular cross has been super successful in the Southern Hemisphere with no less than 55 winners to date including 13 individual $100,000 earners headed by Our Waikiki Beach p,1:50.4 $1,052,896.

Anna’s Innocent is already the dam of a couple of winners in Mea Culpa p,2,1:58.6 and Rock Of Delight p,1:55.0.

The grand-dam of Lot 35A is Innocent Eyes p,1:57.6 $421,875 which was voted Australian 3yo Filly of the Year and later Australian Aged Pacing Mare of the Year.

 

Two wins on same day update page

Tayla French is offering Lot 23 in the 2022 Sydney Nutrien Yearling Sale and she received a boost on Wednesday with not one but two winners updated in the pedigree.

Lot 23 is a Fear The Dragon colt from the Bettors Delight mare Tracey’s Delight and this lot is a half-brother to two winners.

One of those winners in Sweet Annie won her second race at Wyndham in New Zealand yesterday and lowered her best time when she rated 1:59.3 for the 2400 metres. She zipped home the last half in 57.6 and last quarter in 27.2 winning by more than two lengths.

Five hours later the Bettors Delight filly Fairiesdelight won the opening event at the Redcliffe meeting. It was her 11th win and lifted her earnings to $58,395.

Fairiesdelight is a grand-daughter of Tact Pearl which is a half-sister to Tracey’s Delight.

Fear The Dragon p,3,1:48.8 $1,578,647 is the sire of 38 2yo winners in North America in 2021 including the smart filly Dragon Lady p,2,1:54.0 $122,296.

That is his first Northern Hemisphere crop and his first crop in this part of the world will commence racing as 2yos in 2022.

Plenty of love at Swan Hill – Pedigree Updates for the 2022 Nutrien Equine Yearling Sales

When the promising A Rocknroll Dance 3yo Curly James won at Swan Hill on Monday night he rated 1:58.2 over the 2240 metres in downing Killara Juggernaut and Rocks Arnt Pets.

It was the gelding’s second win for the season and improved the record of his dam Someone To Love to two sub 2:00 winners from her first two foals.

Someone To Love’s third foal has been consigned to the 2022 Nutrien Sydney Yearling Sale by vendor John McGeechan as Lot 12.

Lot 12 is a filly by American Ideal and is bred on the same cross as the 2017 USA 2yo Pacing Filly of the Year Youaremycandygirl p,2,1:48.4 $1,566,292 being by American Ideal from a mare by Somebeachsomewhere.

This pedigree received an additional update on Saturday night when Our Little General p,1:49.8 won at The Meadowlands in New Jersey.

It was Our Little General’s 33rd win and lifted his career earnings to $765,566.

Our Little General is a three-quarter brother to Someone To Love being by Mach Three which is the sire of Somebeachsomewhere.

The final event at yesterdays Humbletonian Day at Maryborough was a 2yo maiden trot and Alabar Farms added another 2yo winner to their record when the Matthew Craven trained and Sofia Arvidson driven Muscle Hill gelding Hautacam justified his $1.22 favourites price with a comfortable all-the-way win.
Lot 221 in the 2022 Nutrien Yearling Sale is a Quaker Jet colt being offered by Yabby Dam Farms from Ready To Shine.
It is Ready To Shine’s first foal and she was placed five times in 11 career starts and is a half-sister to Glenferrie Dash – the dam of Hautacam.
